YOUR TUTOR

I am a Cambridge University trained teacher with over 20 years experience in the world of ELT. Having been inspired to join the profession by the wonderful people I met on my travels in the Middle East and North Africa, I returned to England to continue my training to become a DELTA qualified English language teacher. I left the UK not long after finishing my training to take up my first post in Nagasaki, Japan. It was a truly amazing experience, which I followed up by working in a number of challenging environments in the Far East and Europe. After many years abroad I returned once again to the familiar landscape of the UK and started working for a British Council school in Bristol, the capital of the South West. During my 8 years of dedicated service to this prestigious school, I was responsible for the running of the after-school clubs as well as my regular duties as a teacher of General English, Business English, and Cambridge ESOL exams. Since emigrating from the UK to further my life and profession in 2008, I've been lending my wealth of experience gained from having worked in a range of multicultural environments to my posts here in Latin America. Having spent nearly 2 years working as an Academic Consultant and Teacher Trainer for Cambridge University Press, Ecuador I was promoted to Academic Director for the Press responsible for the training of local teachers in modern ELT methodologies, throughout Ecuador. Having been in this post for 2 years, I decided to work as a freelance teacher and teacher trainer before once again emigrating, this time further south to Argentina where I currently reside and run my successful online tutoring business World English Online.

MY MISSION

I love teaching English because my main passion in life is travelling and meeting people  from all over the world. I have always found different cultures very interesting. I think we all have a lot to learn from each other.
I enjoy helping my students reach their personal goals. I think it is really important that we enjoy our lessons together because if you are having fun, you learn more and will remember the information you’re studying. Language classes should be interesting and should motivate you to learn and want to study more. I like it when my students and I can laugh together, and I want my students to feel relaxed with me and be able to ask me questions.
I teach using a variety of materials, and focus on all areas of language learning, like vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and of course the four main skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. I think it is important to not only study the grammar and the necessary vocabulary, but to make sure that you can use both of these when you speak. I think the best way to help you do this is through language learning games and activities which copy real life situations. These help you to remember the language, and also to feel confident using the language.
I also specialise in teaching professionals in their field, and those students wishing to prepare for the Cambridge International ESOL exam suite.

I believe confidence is the key to success. What do you think?

MY STUDENTS
An introduction

My students have come from all over the world and have had a variety of levels and needs. Some are studying English for personal reasons: emigrating, a love of travel or simply a passion for English films, music or literature. Others meanwhile have professional or educational objectives: an obligation to gain a qualification or simply to fulfill daily tasks. Whatever their needs, they have all shared a common goal - to open up further opportunities and to achieve.
